Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

Famous For: its beautiful courtyard

To Do: see the courtyard, painting of Rembrandt, Degas, Titian (above), etc.,& bring ticket stub to Museum of Fine Arts within 2 days

of visit for $2 off

Optional Reading: Did you know that on March 18,1990 two thieves disguised as Boston police stole $300 million worth of art and until now none was recovered? It’s like the movie! They even duct taped and handcuffed the guards and put them in a separate room down at the basement. And they also took the video surveillance tape before they left. But unlike the movie there’s no world class detective who can solve this mystery. Where are the paintings, sketches & artifact now? Are they hanging on the wall of a private collector? Whatever happen to them, it’s ironic how Isabella’s very dream to share these work of arts (under her name no less) to the public was the very reason it didn’t happen. Had she let MFA do the work the break-in might never had happened and today we will be looking at them if not at Boston’s MFA ~ a museum in another country (or maybe that’s precisely were they are!)

You might also learned a lot about this fellow Bostonian while you are there. For example: did you know he was born right in the suburb of Boston and attended Harvard University? His six-room simple home is open to public from May 28 to September 28 Wednesday to Sunday 10:30-4:30 pm. Adults $3 Children 17 & under free Take the subway’s green line to Coolidge Corner. Walk to 83 Beals Street (617)566-7937 www.nps.gov/jofi/ JFK is also the one who gave the famous speech, “And so, my fellow Americans: Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country…” He served exactly 1,000 days in office. And according to his mother he was a “problem child” forgetful and lazy in school but that didn’t stop him from becoming Massachusetts’ House of Representatives, Senator , President of the United States and Pulitzer Prize winner for his book “Profiles in Courage.”

Samuel Adams Brewery

Famous For: brewing Samuel Adams Boston Lager

To Do: bring valid ID like driver license, passport to sample free

beer offer only for twenty one years old and older

So how hard is it to make beer? According to www.historyforkids.org: You make beer out of barley, which is a grain like wheat. You just mix barley and water and let it sit, and the natural yeast in the air will turn it into beer. That being said if your water is not clean you can get sick from drinking it. Better leave it to the professionals if you ask me.

25 Must See of Boston

Like your visit plan out day by day? Then I suggest starting with the most famous:

1st Day: Harvard & Cheers

2nd Day: Beacon Hill, Public Garden & Newbury Street

3rd Day: Trinity, Duck Tour, & Pru Ob

4th Day: Freedom Trail

5th Day: MFA & Isabella

6th Day: JFK & Samuel Adam Brewery

Each day's sites are minutes from each other either by the subway but mostly by walking.

Got a day to visit Boston? Then you must see Harvard, Cheers & Fenway

Got less than 6 days to see Boston? Take it slowly and start from 1st day down,

take it fast and combine the days

or choose from the photos where you like to go and go!

Each day an attraction will be added til I get to the 25th. So please stop by each day to support an unemployed travel writer. My guide is best in the world! Concise, to the point with fun trivia in the bottom for kids and adults. I’m a self-publisher so my recommendations are not affected by local business “contribution.” Living near Boston I plan to branch out to New York, Washington D.C. and other major cities in the future. So please leave a comment that way your feedback will help shape an amateur publisher like me. Thanks!
